A little more gratitude

Well, it’s December. The last thing I posted was Day 19 of my 30 days of thankfulness. Can we say fail? I didn’t even get finished with all the posts I had scheduled on my calendar to write. Sometimes I overestimate my abilities to be Supermom. There’s lots I’m thankful for, but this year I learned my lesson, and next year I’ll stick to posting tidbits on Instagram and Facebook. 🙂 To make up for it though, I’ll share a little list here because honestly, today I need the reminder.

1. A baby girl that will take a nap (even though she isn’t right now of course lol)
2. Necklaces of cheap plastic beads and wooden charms, made just for me by my oldest son3. Kicks from the sweet little one growing inside me
4. Itunes radio 80’s & 90’s country music channel
5. One important phone call I had to make today was actually short, sweet, and accomplished all that was needed!
6. Naptime
7. A husband that thinks I’m pretty and tells me so
8. A computer with an Internet connection
9. Forgotten candy bars don’t melt in my purse in the winter.
10. A rare decent snapshot of me and one of my kids

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 11

Well, I missed a few days. I knew it would happen. November is always a super busy, crazy month for us with birthdays on top of the normal Thanksgiving/Christmas stuff, and this year as a whole has just been nuts. Anyway, enough excuses.

Day Eleven

I’m thankful for the thoughtfulness of my firstborn.

Lincoln is a thoughtful caretaker. He wants to make sure his brother doesn’t go outside in the cold without socks and shoes. He wants to be sure Sissy has on a hairbow that matches her outfit and has her pacifier. He insists that she needs princess stuff, too. He makes sure no one touches their food before we pray. He never fails to tell me each day he thinks I’m pretty, and he always finds toys he wants his friends to have.

Even knowing all that, sometimes the little things he thinks of and pays attention to catch me off guard. Tonight, for instance, he went in the bathroom, pulled out the toothpaste, and got everyone’s toothbrushes ready without being asked to do so. We have three types of toothpaste, and he knew exactly which one each person used, even giving Stanton the bubblegum flavored toothpaste he loves that Lincoln detests.

I’m glad God put that little trait in his personality. It’s so precious to me.

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 5

Day Five

I’m thankful for my Sylvia-Kate.

My word of the year last year was joy, and oh how she brought joy to our lives! Even before birth, she was teaching me so much about seeing the joy in life, even when it’s hard. One year ago today she arrived in a whirlwind, and she hasn’t slowed down.

We named her after her great-great grandmother, Sylvia.

She’s happy and silly, snugly and loving. She loves her brothers and our cat.

Her brothers love her too. 🙂 They take good care of her.

She gets excited when she sees her best baby friend, Irie, who is less than two weeks younger than her. They’ve been chatting over coffee and bibles since they were both in the womb, and I pray their friendship continues that way. 🙂

She’s pretty obsessed with her daddy.
He arrived home from a twelve hour drive, less than 24 hours before she entered the world. She’s been a daddy’s girl from the start and was waiting on him.

She wears hairbow a for me, even though she’s rather pull them out.

She loves baby dolls.

She can walk, and has taken several steps at a time on two or three occasions, but she’d rather crawl or bear crawl.

She says mama, dada, kitty, hey, bubba, nana, uh oh, and a few other words.

She only weighs about 18 pounds, and can still wear 3-6 month onesies if they have short sleeves. She’s our tiny, happy girl. We wouldn’t trade her for the world. I am so blessed that God chose me to be the mother of this little joyful soul. I pray she never loses that joy and continues to share it with others.

Happy birthday, Sylvia-Kate!!

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 2

Day Two

I’m thankful for a quiet house, candles, and a bathtub full of warm water and bubbles at the end of a very stressful day.

I’m thankful My God has a plan, even when it makes no sense to me. He sees the bigger picture.

I’m thankful my husband and I hold hands through all our trials instead of taking our stress and frustrations out on one another by arguing, blaming, or drifting apart.

Saturday Seven

Seven things I’m thankful for on this lovely Saturday morning.

1. My husband is coming home today! We’ve missed him. 🙂

2. All sickness has left our house! After over a week of off-and-on not feeling well and having sick little boys every other day, I’m glad to see it gone!

3. Yesterday was payday for my husband. There are lots of things I could complain about when he is on storm, but thankfully payday isn’t one of them. I am very blessed to have a man that works hard and has a career that allows me to be home with our sweet, wild boys.

4. I’m getting caught up on my work duties, finally. I am so glad I have patient clients. The last few weeks have been crazy.

5. This weekend I will go to the grocery store and buy milk, eggs, and fresh fruits and vegetables for my family. Whether you’re on a tight budget or you can spend freely, we often forget how many people in the world don’t have this luxury. Sometimes I get really annoyed because there are things I want to buy, but they just aren’t in the budget, but I try to remember that I have more food (and healthy stuff at that) in my kitchen than a lot of others.

6. I have two little boys that are taking naps right now.

7. This might be the biggest one of all for today…..I’m thankful Lincoln had decorative scissors instead of regular scissors in his hand when he tried to cut my hair this morning while I slept! (the kind that cuts pretty edges and pretty much only work on paper) I’m also thankful that I woke up to the snip, snip sound to take them away from him before he did damage to anything!

What’s your Saturday Seven? If you want to post it on your own blog, send me a link. I’d love to read it. 🙂
